Intentional or unintentional, the effect is the same. Apple slowed down my iPhone – Six Plus. It costs me money every day! It’s not just about the inconvenience, it affects my income. Why?
I drive as a 1099 for Uber. At any given time, I have at least 3 critical apps running on my iPhone: 1. The Uber Driver App 2. Google Maps for Navigation 3. Stride – real time mileage tracker for tax reasons. I usually have 1 or 2 more apps running 1. Uber Rider app – so I can see where the other Uber drivers are, and sometimes 2. Pandora – music for my passengers.
So how does this slowdown cost me money? Uber allows drivers about 20 seconds to accept a rideshare offer. My iPhone alerts and then I have whatever time is left to switch to the Driver app and accept the rideshare offer. The problem is that with the slowdown, I end up having 3 to 5 seconds – instead of 20 – to switch to the app and accept the rideshare offer. This is almost impossible with the current slowdown. I miss rideshares and Uber holds it against ME! They timeout before I have a chance to accept. Uber tracks acceptance rates. If you go too low they drop you.
So now you know why I am so pissed. Help me out here Apple. If I buy a new battery for my 6 Plus will you speed up my phone and keep me from getting kicked out of Uber?
Slowing down my iPhone costs me money!
